TRANSFORMING INTO A NEW AND BETTER YOU

In order to change for the better, we must transform, by using exercises like Integral Assessment and Universal Loving kindness (meditation) Exercise. I have  had a very stressful week, seems like when one thing happens something else is coming up. I was not able to focus on anything this week. I have so much that I am dealing with. I am not going to quit, but I am going to stand. I will attempt to do the the integral assessment again. Maybe when I get some things settled I can do the exercise again, with an open mind.

 THE LOVING KINDNESS (MEDITATION) EXERCISE
When attempting to do this exercise, it was very difficult for me to get into it. I could not focus at all. I thought it would be like the other loving kindness exercise, but it was extremely difficult for me. I guess I needed to listen to the sounds of the seashore. Maybe I am just spoiled, but to me sounds of the water, or the tropical rain forest. When I get a chance to do these two exercise again, I will definitely give you all an update on my progress. Hopefully, it will be a good one! The area that I have chosen to be a focus of growth and development would be the world.  I want my life to bring an impact on someone's life, and make a difference in my surroundings , neighborhoods, communities. I want to reach out and help those in need. We have so many that are hurting, depressed, oppressed, victims of abuse, etc., and I want to reach out to them. One of the reasons I came to Kaplan University, was to study Psychology/Behavioral Analysis. I want to know the why? and when?,  and what?that makes a person  behave the way they do.  As I learn, more about the mind, body, spirit and meditation/integral healing, I will be able to help many that I counsel right now.  I have already given the Loving Kindness mp3 tape to a couple who have been hurt by loved ones, and life in general. So far it is helping them to release some things and not be so uptight, but calm and full of peace. I know this exercise will help many, because it helped me.

  1. Hi Spiritfree777

I to think the integral assesment is something that may take a bit more time to delve into, but I understand the concept. Its about trying to see where you are lacking and attempting to figure out how you can be better in that area. When we do this is a place of meditation we are being whole with ourself and the thoughts come into mind that allow us to consider our lives as they are. I totally understand about the stressful week. I also had a very stressful week and it is during those times when one has to push the hardest. In the end I believe it makes us stronger.

  2. I love that you use the image of the butterfly in this blog! Every exercise we have done in this class is truly a transformative process, and the image of the butterfly is perfect as an example of that. I also had a little bit of trouble with the assessment exercise, but like you, I think with time and practice it will become easier and will be a great step toward transforming into a beautiful butterfly!

  3. Hi Linda,
I had a rough week myself last week, and it made it harder for me to focus on our exercises. I'm sorry you had a rough week this week. It can throw us off a little, but it sounds like you are determined to persevere, and are not turning a setback into a major obstacle. That's always a good thing!

I'm struggling with burn out and "senioritis" right now, and having difficulty focusing generally. All the way through my degree I've enjoyed the journey, but I'm experiencing wanting to be done rather than focusing on the doing. I feel like I'm so close to the finish I keep struggling to focus on the final stretch rather than the finish itself. But this is a lesson in life, since we are all so often guilty of not enjoying the journey, but focusing on whatever comes next. We all have our ups and downs, triumphs and flops.

It sounds like you have so much kindness and love to give, and that means you are farther along in the journey towards wholeness than many ever reach. I'm sure your lack of focus is only momentary and you will be back on track in no time at all! :-)

  4. I think that sometimes we really have to focus on whats going on and incorporate it with the exercise, maybe looking at the distressful areas and thinking of a more positive outlook towards it. For every bad thing you can think of there is always a positive, we need not to think of the negative things that are incurring in yours or my life. For some maybe the sounds effects in other exercise just work better, meaning you can try to do that type of exercise everday whether it's fifteen to thirty minuites each day is stil going to instill a more psychospiritual, wellness within you because it works better for you. So stick to what you like, we are all trying something new in this course. I think that communicating what works and what doesn't is a part of over coming what is bring us to a greater wellbeing in effort. It's the thought that counts! Great job!
P.S. I still not much for the sund meditation, but it works for you so stick to it!
