Journey to Relaxation

My journey to relaxation was a battle in itself. The more I tried to relax, I just could not. So I tried to do the exercise on another day, when I was not so busy. On this particular day, I was very stressed out, and needed to relax. When I began the exercise, I said, this is really not going to work, and was just gonna stop the tape. I continued anyway, and as I began to listen, my mind, began to just listen to the background, while the man continued to talk. I was so surprised, that I started to feel relaxed. The next thing I knew, it was toward the middle of the exercise, and my arms were heavy, and I really did not feel like moving them. Now what happened next, I am ashamed to say, because I fell asleep, and I do not think I was suppose to do that...lol!! All I know is when I woke up, it was several hours later......and I was feeling really good, and stress free!!

  1. That's funny. I wish I could nap during the day. I have enough trouble sleepying through the night. Last night I awoke at 1pm and decided to think through the exercise on my own. I thought it would help me pass out but again, I layed there for a couple hours before dosing off. I do have lots of dreams so something must be working right.

  2. Hi Linda,
What a lovely blog! I love the butterflies, so beautiful and such a lovely image of lightness and joy!

Did you have a chance to do the loving-kindness meditation yet? I found it to be a beautiful experience and really felt like a conduit for healing. I came out of it feeling so peaceful and lighthearted. I felt as if a golden light were pouring out of me as I exhaled, and when I inhaled, I felt as if others' suffering was a dark (but not frightening) cloud that was evaporated by the power of the golden light. It was cosmic stuff!

I laughed out loud at your funny anecdote about falling asleep during the previous unit's meditation. I don't there can be anything wrong about achieving such a deep state of relaxation - I'm sure you needed it, you sound like a busy lady! :-)

Take care, and have a great week!

    Deb
